Finally got to a point with my ip Wayward Heavens where the art style for the characters is set. WWH is a blend of sci fi and fantasy story-wise, so it calls for a style that mimics that. I went with a super detailed lineart anime style designed to be replicated in 3D using lineart shaders.
This is also the final_superfinal version of Eris, who has gone through a stupid huge amount of re-dos because I had to make sure her character design matches her and presents her as an unlikely but extremely formidable heroine.
Eris is an engineer who has been tinkering in her room since she was a child. She grew up as an only child in a protected part of a giant city and was sheltered for most of her life until her father was killed in a very suspicious way by a faction of the government-conglomerate, the GHOSTS, who he worked with for years. As she grew up, anger festered inside of her, but was not expressed. She closed herself off even more and over years created a wand to channel the powers of a crystal that her father gave to her as a child, which could heal her minor wounds. The wand project is successful, and through the use of this wand she is able to wield life magic-the magic of life and consciousness itself. She is able to bring a long-dead giant robot back to life and from there, her sheltered world is shattered and she is forced to face the past, present, and future of the society and world she is a part of.
